About Cillian Calpin

At my core I am a creative problem solver. It just so happens the problems I have solved are forged into the skylines of iconic cities around the world. Who knows, you might recognise some from your travels.

I started my career as a Structural Engineer in Galway where I completed small to medium sized projects in the West of Ireland. My ambition to work on large scale projects in complex, dense urban environments propelled me to relocate to New York City. The opportunity to create unique solutions that fuel dramatic change was irresistible. I quickly expanded my experience in the design and construction of high-rise mega projects in the U.S. and international markets. My work focused on making the most ambitious projects a reality so that they could enhance the social and economic fabric of their surroundings. As I solidified my expertise in high-rise design, I shifted my focus to business operations and pursued senior leadership roles to expand my capabilities.

As Vice President at WSP, one of the largest engineering consultancies in the world, I rose to become an industry leader that delivered market-shifting, seemingly impossible projects. I oversaw business operations that delivered billions of dollars in high-rise projects in the U.S. My experience crosses public and private sectors, while my technical expertise reaches beyond that of design to independent peer review, value engineering and expert witness services. Through my collaborations with world-class developers and architects, I have been distinguished as a strategic thinker who has a passion for navigating risk and charting paths to success. As a trusted advisor and decision maker, I advocate on behalf of my clients to protect their interests in a variety of public and private sector environments.

Identifying talent and mentoring to help others succeed gives me a huge sense of fulfilment. My leadership style builds high performing teams by supporting career goals and empowering autonomy through accountability and creativity. Using this mantra, I have led teams to win prestigious industry awards for our work on the highest profile projects in New York City.

Fulfilment for me comes when I can add value in what I produce. As Co-Founder of Eos Blooms, a direct to consumer e-commerce business, I have been able to exercise my passion for entrepreneurship and bringing new products to market. In between you will find me immersed in books and exploring paths less travelled around the world.
